Our Story
Chalkside Architecture & Design Ltd was created in 2022 and is based in Norwich, UK.
Director Sarah Burton studied Interior Design at university and has over 25 years of experience in architecture. Before venturing into self-employment, she worked as an Associate at LSI Architects. Sarah made the decision to pivot her career, blending her passions for art & architecture, which ultimately led to the creation of Chalkside.
Chalkside operates with flexibility, engaging in projects directly for clients as well as freelancing for a select group of collaborators. This diverse approach has proven to be successful; offering a range of individual projects & fostering knowledge-sharing within the industry.
Having worked for several Norfolk-based and regional architectural companies, I've learned the importance of establishing a direct client relationship to achieve the best design solutions. While there are often multiple approaches to fulfilling a brief, I prioritize listening to your needs, talking through ideas, and suggesting ways to maximize space or budget constraints.
My experience spans various sectors, with a particular focus on Residential and Healthcare. This has provided me with valuable insights into creating accessible and inclusive designs that are adapted to suit specific user needs. I've conducted Access Audits and worked alongside Occupational Therapists & Caregivers to ensure that our designs effectively address the requirements of all users.
